Meet Jamie

Meet Jamie

Jamie is one of our new team members at Olson Orthodontics! We are glad to have her join us. Below is a little bit of information all about JAMIE!

What led you to your current role?

I have worked in the dental field for 15 years both in general practices and in orthodontics. I heard that Dr. Lauren was looking for a new team member, and I had heard wonderful things about her and her office so I reached out to her and here I am. I’m very grateful to be a part of her amazing team.

Where are you from? If not O’Fallon what brought you here?

I was born and raised in Jacksonville, Illinois. I moved Belleville with my husband in 2002. He was from Salem, Illinois, and Belleville was kind of right in the middle of both of our families.

Did you have braces? For how long? Did you have clear or colored rubber bands? Head gear? Did you really use the floss threaders like you’re supposed to?

I did wear braces for about a year. I was an adult so I was really good about my elastics and flossing.

What job could you never do?

I could never do anything that involved heights or snakes. Nope. 😊

If Olson Orthodontics didn’t exist and you needed a totally different career, what would be another dream job?

If Olson Orthodontics was not around, I would love to run a little bakery.

What’s the last book you read? Movie you watched?

The last book I read was 10% Happier, and the last movie I watched was Black Panther.

What was your first concert? Best concert?

The best concert I was at was Pearl Jam at Wrigley Field! It was an amazing night!

What celebrity has the best teeth?

There are way too many celebrities with beautiful teeth to pick just one.

About what are you most proud of Olson Orthodontics?

Everyone that works here is so nice and so caring. It really feels like a family.

Do you have any pets? What are their names?

We don’t currently have any pets. Hopefully, that will change one day.

If you want to surprise someone, what do you tell them about yourself?

Either that I have tattoos or that I have 2 boys that are 10 years apart in age.

When you were little, what did you want to be when you grew up?

I always wanted to be a teacher when I was young. I use to play school all the time.

What do you think is the best advance for orthodontics in recent years?

I think the best advances in orthodontics in recent years would probably be clear brackets. It gives people who are embarrassed about metal braces the opportunity to get braces and enjoy how they really blend in with their teeth and smile.

Meet Sarah

Sarah is one of our new team members at Olson Orthodontics! We are glad to have her join us. Below is a little bit of information all about SARAH!

What led you to your current role?

I worked for 2 years at a general dentist office, before finally deciding it wasn't for me. I knew I wanted to stay in some type of healthcare profession so that I'd be able to help people. So, I figured hey! why not braces!? That's when I stepped into the orthodontic field about a year ago.

Where are you from? If not O’Fallon what brought you here?

I was born and raised in good Ol' Belle-Vegas!

Did you have braces? For how long? Did you have clear or colored rubber bands? Head gear? Did you really use the floss threaders like you’re supposed to?

Lucky for me, I not only got to enjoy the luxury of braces just once, but TWICE! I first had braces in high school for about 2 years. I used both clear and colored elastics depending on my mood, what I was doing, and where I was going. I absolutely hated floss threaders. After throwing away my retainers in the trash a few different times, I gave up on the idea. Fast forward to my second year of being in the dental field, I noticed how my teeth had shifted, and I became very picky and understanding about the importance of straight teeth, retainers, and oral health. That's when I decided on round two of braces!

What job could you never do?

Embalmer. Sewage Person. Surgeon.

If Olson Orthodontics didn’t exist and you needed a totally different career, what would be another dream job?

Doggy Daycare/Pet Sitter, stay at home mom-preneur

What’s the last book you read? Movie you watched?

The last movie I watched was Peter Rabbit during family movie night.

If you want to surprise someone, what do you tell them about yourself?

I own a mud truck that I used to take out to mudding events to get a little dirty from time to time.

When you were little, what did you want to be when you grew up?

I wanted to be a WWF Diva! (Now its called WWE)

What do you think is the best advance for orthodontics in recent years?

Scanning!!!! I've never heard of a single person who absolutely loves getting impressions done.

team members

Meet Bethany!

Bethany is one of our new team members at Olson Orthodontics! We are glad to have her join us. Below is a little bit of information all about BETHANY!

What led you to your current role?

After having been given the privilege to get to know Dr. Olson and her family, my Mom thought her office would be a great working environment. We asked if Dr. Olson was ever in need of some “behind the scenes” work. That led to me working at the office with sterilization and random jobs that need to be done.

Where are you from? If not O’Fallon what brought you here?

I was born in Guatemala and was adopted into my forever family when I was eight months old. I have lived in the O’Fallon area ever since.

Did you have braces? For how long? Did you have clear or colored rubber bands? Head gear? Did you really use the floss threaders like you’re supposed to?

I did have braces for a year and a half. Thankfully, I just had to have basic treatment. My favorite part about braces was picking out different colors and using the colorful rubber bands. I was very careful and flossed my teeth every day. Honestly :)

What job could you never do?

I could never be a math teacher. I hate math!

If Olson Orthodontics didn’t exist and you needed a totally different career, what would be another dream job?

I’m still in high school. I have one year until I’m finished, but I’m hoping to work in the dental field. If orthodontics didn’t exist, I would probably look into the nursing field or go to cosmetology school.

What’s the last book you read? Movie you watched?

The last book I read was King Henry 5th, the play written by Shakespeare. It was part of my school so I was forced to read it. The last movie I enjoyed at the theater was The Miracle Season. It was a fantastic movie.

What was your first concert? Best concert?

Winter Jam!

What celebrity has the best teeth?

Dylan Schneider

No, I have never seen it before.

When you were little, what did you want to be when you grew up?

I’m only 17 but when I was younger I wanted to be a vet.

What do you think is the best advance for orthodontics in recent years?

I would have to go with Invisalign. It seems like many people are choosing Invisalign, instead of regular wire braces, including my grandma who has wanted braces for forever.
