What should I do if I lost or broke my retainer?

Retainers are required after orthodontic treatment to help keep your teeth from moving back to their original positions. So you must wear your retainer every day!

To keep your retainer in good shape, avoid:

  • Using a toothpick to clean out food caught in the retainer.
  • Biting into hard foods like apples, carrots, and candy.
  • Biting on finger nails, which flexes the teeth.
  • Chewing ice.
  • Pulling too hard on the retainer when flossing.
  • Grinding or clenching your teeth.

Always store your retainer in its case when it’s not in your mouth. If you lose or break your retainer, contact our office immediately for a replacement. Note that we do charge a fee for a new retainer.

Patient & Parent Reviews

As the parent, what made you choose Olson Orthodontics?

"The price was better and the staff seems more natural (don't try so hard to be "cool"). Also, we like the smaller office, the other was too big and commercialized. The character of the orthodontist, community involvement, church, etc. is important to us." ~Ora A.

We like to ask parents what made them choose our office for orthodontic treatment to know how our patients and their parents feel about us and their treatment. Ora had such a fantastic answer to why she chose Olson Orthodontics and we wanted to share! This is exactly what we strive to represent as a practice! #OlsonBraces

Smiles Change Lives Provider, Dr. Lauren Olson

Dr. Lauren Olson Celebrates 9 Years with Smiles Change Lives!

Smiles Change Lives, or "SCL" is a nonprofit organization that assists children in need of braces who are not able to afford them. The organization partners with orthodontists all over the United States who agree to provide treatment at little cost to the family. Click here to watch a video for more information from actual Smiles Change Lives patients and parents.
